Large amounts of waste are produced every day by the manufacturing and processing industries. Proper disposal and, if possible, as much waste recycling as possible is extremely important for the protection of our environment and the world we live in.
Behind the scenes of what we see every day - shelves full of packaged drinks and food in our shops, products that we install in family homes and apartment buildings, at every corner and at every step - waste is created in many shapes and forms. The waste generated by manufacturers and processing companies needs to be taken over, transported, sorted, disposed of, recycled... Many companies and organizations participate in the collection, transportation, recycling and disposal processes using different technical systems, from transport trucks to very complex facilities for final processing and disposal. For our client, the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Green Transition, we are working on the development and improvement of the digital system "e-ONTO" (Electronic register on the origin and flow of waste), which records waste flows on the territory of the Republic of Croatia, and which also contains a quality control and waste traceability system . The system is used daily by all participants in the collection, transport, recycling and disposal chain. This includes primary producers, processors, transporters, companies that dispose of and process waste, and among them are private and public companies, government agencies, institutions and others. Everyone has their role, and everyone enters their part of data into the "e-Onto" system in order to ultimately get an accurate and precise insight into the most important parameters. The parameters themselves and their target values are defined by the European Union, so Croatia, as a member of the Union, is responsible for quality waste management and reporting both to national and EU institutions. The system that was developed for the needs of this client can be adapted to other organizations that manage and monitor waste management processes and activities at the national or regional level.
